The Henry rifles were designed with a centrally located hammer. When operated, the lever would both cock the hammer and place a new round in the chamber. The original Henry rifle was chambered in .44 rimfire that could hold, at the time, an astonishing 16 rounds of ammunition. The Henry Firearms served in a limited role in the Civil War, but was never a general-issue weapon.

The current Henry Repeating Arms is not connected to Benjamin Henry in any way, but still produces fine lever-action rifles based on the Henry Firearms design. Current Henry rifles are known for their accuracy, reliability, and power. These lever-action rifles are found in the hands of Western enthusiasts, hunters, and those searching for a finely made American rifle. Henry rifles are manufactured in a variety of calibers and cartridges with many special editions released every year.

More About Henry Firearms

Henry Firearms is a firearm manufactory company that was founded by Italian-American firearms businessman Louis Imperato in 1993. Imperato was working at Jovino’s Gunshop in Manhattan when he decided to use his gun manufacturing license to establish his own gun manufacturing factory in Brooklyn. Imperato’s company acquired the rights to use the name “Henry Repeating Arms,” which previously identified a brand that produced Benjamin Tyler Henry’s historical 1860 lever-action rifle.

Louis Imperato’s Henry Repeating Arms company started with manufacturing a .22 caliber level-action rifle, and in 2008, Henry Repeating Arms moved to a new headquarters in Bayonne, New Jersey. Henry Repeating Arms also has a facility in Wisconsin that does casting and machining for receivers and production parts.

Henry Firearms produces over 300,000 Henry rifles each year. The company builds lever-action rifles in calibers ranging from the .22 Long Rifle to the .308, in both octagon and round barrels. The Henry rifles are made with blue, brass, silver, color case, and All Weather finishes. Almost all Henry Repeating Arms lever-action rifles feature a tubular feed design in honor of the original Henry rifle.
